Yield: about 2 cups | Prep: 5 minutes | Cook: 20–30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 oz tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup apple-cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • small pinch cinnamon optional

Method

Whisk everything in a saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook, stirring frequently, until smooth and ketchup-like. Add water if it becomes too thick. Cool before refrigerating.

Use

Burgers, meatloaf, fries, barbecue-sauce base and family dipping sauce.

Refrigerated homemade condiments are not shelf-stable canning recipes. Keep refrigerated in clean covered containers.
